In Which We Get In Touch With Nature

So, do to circumstances out of my control, my extensively planned hike up Hadley Mountain did not happen on Saturday. However, I was fairly determined to go outside so I decided to get in touch with my childhood and explore my backyard. I packed myself a bottle of water, a granola bar, a book and [...]

Saipua Flowers

Saipua is a family owned soap and flower business out of Brooklyn. Their arrangements are gorgeous and their soap sounds positively luxurious. Sadly they only deliver to Brooklyn and Manhattan, but perhaps I’ll pick myself up a bouquet next time I’m in the city & feeling decadent

Dissertation Haiku

Science, whales, pirates,
All have one thing in common,
Jessica likes them.

I found this to be highly entertaining, you got one?

Salvage Style

I think this house is amazingly beautiful. It just seems so magical and comfy…with a kind of European feel and, well, old feel, that you generally do not get in the states. The pictures are from an article in Southern Living on 12 Smart Salvage Ideas. Just about everything in this house was made from [...]

The Yellow Treehouse Restaurant

How did I miss this?
The Yellow Treehouse Restaurant is located high up in a living redwood tree north of Auckland, New Zealand and I’m contemplating making a second trip down there just to check out the crazy architecture. (j.k. I’d visit you two Julia!).Clearly you can’t fit a lot of people in this place, so [...]

Life Aquatic

Photo credits unknown, but I love this eclectic collection of glass vases and plant cuttings

New Purpose for the Yule Log

I think this quite possibly the most brilliant thing ever. Designer Fabien Cappello makes furniture from discarded Christmas Trees. Fantastic! How often do you see dead Christmas trees with the sad remains of tinsle on the side of the road waiting for the garbage truck to pick them? I live next to a steep hill [...]

Yurt Living

I’ll be honest I am about 95% down with yurt living. Small, portable, convenient and, in general, eco friendly. I am, however, highly skeptical of the bathroom situation. I’d really need to be sold on that.

House in the Woods

I’m not sure what the origin of these photos is, but I think they’re quite lovely. I certainly wouldn’t mind living in either a tree house or hobbit house. Magical and cozy.
