Hudson River at Sunset

A week or two ago I took a “booze cruise” down the Hudson River with my family. While I’m a big fan of the band, Hair of the Dog, I think that I enjoy seeing them play more at The Parting Glass than I do on the Captain JP – which happens to be docked outside my window. My preference may be in part due to the fact that the JP doesn’t serve food and has crappy beer, while the Parting glass has delicious bread pudding and tasty cider!

But the cruise was still fun and I enjoyed hanging out on the top deck taking photos. We even got caught in the middle of a pretty violent thunderstorm, which was great fun.

The Hudson River is currently being dredged by GE. Although the dredging is taking place upriver from where I live, I’ve still taken an interest. The debate over dredging has been going on since I was in high school, which means at least the past 10 years. I’m not totally sold that dredging will solve all of the environmental problems that have been created by GE dumping tons of PCBs in to the river for decades, but its taking place no matter what, so I guess we can only hope for the best!
